General Summary:

The HR Manager (India) will be instrumental in managing HR operations and strategy for our India office, aligning with the broader organizational goals of our U.S. corporate headquarters in Glendale, California. This role will report directly to the VP, People and Culture and act as a critical bridge between the India office and corporate headquarters. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Indian labor laws and statutory requirements, coupled with experience working with a corporate office in another country. This role requires a proactive, adaptable HR professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about fostering employee engagement and organizational success.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the India leadership team, providing guidance on HR-related matters, including workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate with the corporate office to align HR strategies with the company’s business objectives, while adapting them to local needs and cultural nuances, ensuring seamless communication and alignment on policies, programs, and organizational priorities.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee HR operations for the India office, ensuring compliance with Indian labor laws, employment standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Partner with external consultants or legal advisors as necessary to ensure up-to-date compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Manage employee documentation, payroll coordination, and benefits administration in partnership with local vendors.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for India-based employees, fostering open communication and addressing concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Address complex employee relations issues, conducting investigations as needed and providing coaching to managers to resolve and prevent challenges.

Talent Management & Development

  • Collaborate with managers to support performance management processes, including feedback, goal setting, and career development.
  • Identify local training and development needs, coordinating with the corporate training team to deliver effective learning solutions.
  • Assist in succession planning and talent pipeline development for the India office.

HR Data & Analytics

  • Leverage data to inform HR strategies, identifying trends and insights related to workforce metrics, retention, and engagement.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the VP, People and Culture on India office performance and challenges.

Culture & Engagement

  • Lead efforts to foster a cohesive, inclusive culture that bridges geographical boundaries and reflects the organization’s values, supporting company culture and engagement initiatives.
  • Design and execute local engagement initiatives, recognizing cultural nuances and employee needs.
  • Act as a champion for DEI efforts, ensuring alignment and participation from the India office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or similar role, with at least 3 years supporting operations in India.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, statutory requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience working with a corporate office in another country, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and leveraging data for decision-making.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
