JOB SUMMARY:

Skilled nurse informaticist to work with machine learning, NLP, generative AI modeling, research and development. The ideal candidate will engage with AI engineers, data scientists, and clinical product teams to provide clinical data expertise to develop and refine innovative analytic solutions and data models to support VBC entities. Applies expert-level clinical knowledge to enhance data-driven analytics, interactions, and interventions for all utilizers of point of service solutions. Recommends, interprets, and communicates inputs to, processes used, and results from AI and other analytic models to ensure that they follow sound methodologies, are fed by unbiased data, and result in clinically coherent results; including, but not limited, to developing, reviewing and validating data reports, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner to help improve reporting and documentation. Interacts with customers, partners, and clinical practitioners to ensure enterprise solutions are rooted in principles of sound clinical practice, consider appropriate risk factors, and are monitored to minimize risks of bias or drift in the data and recommendations.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Collaborates with Machine Learning/Natural Language Processing (ML/NLP) engineers and clinical teams to provide expert insights into real-world clinical decisions, coding, and interpretation of cases and findings.
  • Guides the development and refinement of NLP algorithms by leveraging expertise in medical nomenclatures and coding systems.
  • Ensures the accuracy and relevance of clinical data used in generative AI models from constructing the samples, ensuring sufficient "edge cases", curating inputs such that sound methodologies were followed.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of studies to validate and improve the performance of NLP applications in clinical settings.
  • Contributes to the selection and development of tools and processes that enhance the usability of clinical data in research and healthcare applications.
  • Serves as a bridge between the technical team and clinical practitioners, translating clinical needs and data into actionable insights for technical development.
  • Liaison between customer healthcare providers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback for AI-driven informatics projects.
  • Participates in the development of training materials and documentation for end-users of AI applications in healthcare.
  • Conducts regular reviews of AI model performance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical standards and socioeconomic factors to foster interventions to reduce obstacles in obtaining needed health care.
  • Collaborates with data governance teams to ensure the integrity, security, and quality of healthcare data used in AI applications.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure
  • Experience with and preferably certification in medical records clinical coding practices.
  • 8+ years' work experience
  • Clinical Informatics Applications (CPOE, Evidence Based Order Sets, Provider Documentation)
  • EHR Documentation Optimization
  • Evidence Based Clinical Documentation, Promoting Interoperability and the Clinical Information Integrity Program (CIIP).

OTHER SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Deep understanding of real-world uses of standard medical nomenclatures (for example, ICD, CPT/HCPC, LOINC, NDC, SNOMED) and aspects of the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS).
  • Experience with healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and ICD-10.
  • Expert-level understanding of medical and clinical data.
  • Experience with electronic health records in clinical settings.
  • Familiarity with healthcare system workflows and clinical practices.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data manipulation techniques.
  • Some knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their applications in healthcare.
  • Ability to develop and refine data models for healthcare analytics.
  • Working competence in using statistical software and tools for data analysis.
  • Experience using data visualization and interpretation of complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, partners, and clinical practitioners.
  • Capacity to translate complex data insights into actionable healthcare interventions.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address challenges in data-driven analytics.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $110,000 / annually

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
